The ancient history of Jewelry cannot be complete without the worthy mentioning of the African contribution in the evolution of the Jewelry accessories. In the Ancient primitive Africa, there were traces of local jewelry used by the Africans of the ancient times. This is mainly seen today in the records available in various African museums.

Africa has numerous gorgeous cultures in her various countries that make up the continent. Most of these countries today were then known as Empires before the arrival of the colonialist. In most of these African Empires, kings and princes reigned together with their wives and households.

The basic raw materials used in the production of most of the African Jewelry products include the locally discovered gold, rubber and other local metals available.
In all, the African Jewelry in the ancient period was a wonderful display of the artistic ingenuity inborn in most African people of that period. Most kings and queens were the best beneficiaries of such jewelry products.
